Teach a STEM Subject

Why Teaching a STEM Subject Is Right for You

Do you have a passion for science, math, or computer science and want to inspire future generations?

Do you enjoy explaining abstract concepts in a way that others can understand?

Are you looking for a career path that adds flexibility to your degree — one degree, two career options?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, consider a career in teaching!

Teach While You Learn

Earn your STEM-specific bachelor's degree, a STEM Education minor and teaching license for grades 7–12 in math, biology, chemistry, physics or computer science.

Want to explore teaching first? Enroll in STEM 12102 where you’ll team up with a classmate to design and teach real lessons in local classrooms — in a hands-on way to try out teaching and to build valuable skills.

How Does This Work with Your Degree Plan?

If you are majoring — or planning to major — in biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics or computer science, you also can earn your teaching license by adding a 15-hour STEM Education minor and completing an additional 15 credit hours to meet teacher licensure requirements.

Suggested Course Sequences for Each Bachelor's Degree with Teacher Licensure Requirements

You can pursue a teaching license outside the above STEM subjects! However, you must take certain content courses alongside your degree including the STEM Education minor and these Non-Major Content Course Requirements (Google Drive).
